Bogotazombie

Bogotazombie´s folder contains 5 posters simulating the front pages of Bogotá´s five main journals by mid-twentieth century, reconstructing what they could have informed on april 10th 1948, a day when actually no papers were printed in the city. The facts that took place during what has come to be historically known as El Bogotazo, remain so close to a surreal sphere, that they allow us to explain their causes using narratives involving terror and fantasy. And that´s how these newspapers narrate the bloody episode that divided Bogotá´s history in half: as if it had been a zombie breakout.

Since he was a child, José Joaquín Jiménez had to lie about his age in order to hide the fact that his parents conceived him four years before getting married. Altering the reality became for him a game that he then made part of his journalism. Ximénez was one of the most fascinating Colombian chronicle writers of the twentieth century.
